Proposed Changes to Homeless Laws Could Make it Harder For Families to Access Services

The Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless reports D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray’s proposed changes to homeless rights laws would make it harder for homeless families to access shelters and services. One change would allow the Department of Human Services to house families temporarily while they figure out what services the family is eligible for and in need of. D.H.S. could evict these families from housing with only 24 hours notice, even when temperatures are below freezing.
